Toronto Metropolitan University Aquatics
JOB DESCRIPTION:
A Toronto Metropolitan University Lifeguard is a highly motivated, dedicated and responsible individual who monitors patrons and ensures a safe swim environment in the University pool, located within the Recreation & Athletic Centre. Lifeguards oversee the safety of pool patrons and act as ambassadors for Toronto Metropolitan University Athletics & Recreation with students and community members. Lifeguards work closely with the Head Lifeguard.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Constant monitoring of pool patrons in and out of the water
- Follow routines to open and close pool at beginning/end of day as assigned
- Regular monitoring and recording of pool temperature and pH, chlorine, and alkalinity levels
- Set up and take down equipment as necessary
- Warmly greet patrons upon entry to pool; act as an ambassador for Athletics & Recreation to all patrons and community members
- Report on swim programs to Head Lifeguard on a regular basis
- Understand and actively implement emergency evacuation procedures when necessary
- Maintain a clean environment in and around the pool
- Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of the pool deck
- Provide assistance to patrons when appropriate or necessary
- Recognize and respond to the needs of patrons
- Create, foster, and support an environment that celebrates equity, diversity, and inclusion in all Athletics & Recreation programs, including Aquatics - All other duties as assigned or required
