  1. Where is Lifeguarding Academy?

  2. What should I bring to class?

    Candidates who have successfully registered for a course with Lifeguarding Academy should all receive a detailed confirmation email that includes a list of items that they are required to bring to the course. A few general things to remember to bring:

    -Prerequisites (depending on your course)
    -Lunch, snacks, water/beverages or money to purchase
    -Writing utensils such as pen, pencil, paper, notebook, laptop, etc
    -Swimming gear (for lifeguarding courses)
    -First Aid gear (for lifesaving courses)
     

  3. Does Lifeguarding Academy cancel courses?

    Lifeguarding Academy is one fo the biggest training centres in the GTA. Our ultimate goal is to run every course and we promise to refrain from cancelling courses as much as possible. However, we suggest candidates to register early into our courses in order to secure a spot in our course as well as to let us know that you're interested as each course will need a minimum number of enrollments in order for it to run. 

  4. Does Lifeguarding Academy provide temporary cards?

    All candidates will receive a temporary card upon successful completion of the course. A permanent certificate will then be sent out to your mailing address within 90 days. 

  5. What is Lifeguarding Academy's refund policy?

    Our refund and cancellation policies vary between our different courses. To see the exact refund & rescheduling policy for your course, click here.

  6. How do I reschedule or cancel my registration?

    All rescheduling and cancellation requests must be requested with written notice via email. You may send your request to admin@lifeguardingacademy.com by including your name, the specific date and course that you are registered in and the reason for cancelling or rescheduling your course.

  7. How do I customize my course?

    Here are the steps to customize your course schedule: 

    1- Register yourself for the date that you are available to attend.

    2- Email us at admin@lifeguardingacademy.com and let us know that you would like to customize your course schedule by including a second weekend date that you are available to attend.

    Note: Candidates are not allowed to break up individual days of their course; you can only separate your weekends. We recommend candidates to keep their non-consecutive weekend dates as close as possible. Course customizations must be requested prior to the starting date of your course. 

  8. What forms of payment do you take?

    Our online registration system can accept Visa, Mastercard or American Express. Please note that our registration system will not take any Debit or Debit Visa forms of payment.

    Should you wish to register using a different method of payment, please email us at register@lifeguardingacademy.com or give our office a call at 647-993-2963.

  9. What can I use as proof of prerequisites?

    Candidates must provide valid proof of prerequisites in order to participate in their registered course.

    Examples of Valid Proof of Prerequisites:
    -Valid temporary card (cannot be more than 90 days old).
    -Certificate card received in the mail.
    -A printout of your LSS ID page. 

    Examples of Unacceptable Proof of Prerequisites:
    -A letter of completion from any organization.
    -An email from an instructor/examiner.
    -A receipt proving your payment.

  10. Where can I find my LSS ID?

    An LSS ID is a 6 digit code that lists all of your current and past certifications with the Lifesaving Society. You can find this code at the bottom right corner of any of your original certification cards or by contacting Lifesaving Society directly at 416-490-8844 to obtain it.

    *Note: You will only have an LSS ID if you have previously taken courses through the Lifesaving Society.

  11. Does Lifeguarding Academy have parking?

    Harbord Collegiate: Free underground parking (accessed from Euclid avenue).
    *Please note that parking is only available to candidates/parents who are on the premises. We strongly advise against leaving your car in the garage if you are not in the facility. 

    Spirit of Math: Street & neighbourhood parking options available.

  12. Where do I find Lifeguarding Academy promotions?

    Promotional codes and offers will vary from time to time. To keep yourself updated and stay in the loop, like us on Facebook to be notified of any current promotional offers!

  13. When will I receive my purchased/rented course material?

    Candidates will receive their manuals and any additionally purchased items upon arrival of their course. 

  14. When will I receive my official certificate?

    Your permanent certification will be mailed to you directly from the Lifesaving Society. They advertise a 90-day turnaround time for your certificates to be processed and mailed to you.

    In the meantime, the temporary card that you will receive at the end of your course will be legally valid for you to present to your school or workplace as proof of successful completion.

  15. What happens if I fail my course?

    Candidates who are unsuccessful in their course will be required to retake their course. Rules may vary depending on the course that you are registered in. To find out what your next steps are, please contact us via email or phone.

  16. Do you offer weekday courses?

    Unfortunately, we do not currently offer any weekday courses as we find that our weekend courses fit best with everyone's schedule. If our course schedules do not work for you, please contact us to make alternative arrangements. Lifeguarding Academy offers a range of private courses and course customization options.

  17. Does Lifeguarding Academy offer private courses?

    Yes we do. We offer a wide range of private courses and can tailor our courses to your schedule, place and time.

  18. Do you offer group rates and trainings?

  19. What do I do if I lost my certificate?

    You'll have to contact Lifesaving Society and reques them to mail you another copy of your certifications. Alternatively, you can pull up all of your certifications by looking up your LSS ID on find a member and use that as proof of your certifications.

  20. What do I do if I haven't received my LSS certificate yet?

    Please only contact Lifeguarding Academy if you have taken your course over 90 days ago and you have not received your certificate. Lifesaving Society states a 90 day turnaround time for certification processing so you don't need to worry if your temporary card has not expired yet!
