LIFEGUARDING
ACADEMY
Please be advised, due to the nature of our trainings, candidates registering for courses will be required to demonstrate certain skills and techniques on each other. See below for a summary of what we are doing to keep you and other students safe while attending your class.
What we are doing:
Our students are required to provide proof of immunization or a negative COVID test (no older than 72 hours prior to the start of the in-person course).
We have changed the layout of our classrooms to ensure participants are at least 2 meters (6 feet) apart from one another.
Lunch and snack breaks will be staggered between courses to minimize unnecessary participant contact.
Lower capacity in enclosed areas to avoid crowding.
Hand sanitizers available to be used throughout the course.
All instructors and participants will be screened prior to every course.
Classrooms are regularly cleaned and sanitized.
All training equipment is sanitized before and after use.
All rental text books are sanitized using ultraviolet light and candidates are given the option of purchasing brand-new manuals.
All participants will receive their own trainig equipment.
All instructors and students are required to wear PPE.
An emergency response plan is in place in case there are concerns surrounding COVID-19 by the authorities.
Prior to your course:
Make sure to bring a face mask for yourself, you will be required to wear it throughout the course. We ask participants to arrive at least 15-20 minutes before the class start time. Upon arival, you will see signs asking you to wait in a line while keeping a 2 meters (6 feet) distance from other students. Each participant will be required to answer a self-screening survery and provide proof of immunization or a negative COVID test before being permitted into the course.
Beginning of the course:
Upon entry, students will be guided to a hand sanitizing station being assigned to a table. Students will be provided with a pair of nitrile gloves and their own CPR pocket mask to use throughout the course.
During the course:
Students will be given a seat that is at least 2 meters (6 feet) apart from other participants. Every student will be assigned to their own CPR manikin and other training equipment to use throughout the course. The equipment is cleaned and disinfected after each class.
Demonstrating physical skills throughout your course:
While some skills have been modified to avoid contact, there are still components of the course where students will be required to demonstrate their practical skills on one another. For these instances, instructors will ask the candidates to first wash or sanitize their hands, maintain physical distancing during the task (where possible) and wash or sanitize their hands when the task is completed.
